Myssie - Queen of Houston Book Arts

At Houston Book Arts group’s 2010 holiday party, our fearless leader, Myssie Light, passed the torch to our 2011 leader, Marjorie Silverstein. Myssie Light started the HBAG group 5 years ago, along with Todd Samuelson, who was then Curator of the Museum of Printing History (home location of the HBAG meetings).

Myssie has led the group through many book structures, decorations, and other book arts skills. She has led field trips and invited wonderful guest presenters. She collaborated with the group to make Hurricane, a pop-up book expressing our member’s visions of Hurricane Ike. Her standards of excellence and generous sharing of her time and expertise  with participants who were just learning about pop-up engineering and case binding made that book such a pleasure! For a sense of the meetings pulled together under Myssie’s leadership, see our Past Meetings page.

Myssie passing the torch to Marjorie

Mostly, she has inspired us and created a sense of community, for which we are so grateful!

Myssie – you are the best! The Queen! Thank you for everything you have done for us. You have a generous spirit!
