Handmade board books and commercial books demonstrating structures
Board books are not just for kids!
You’ll discover that plenty of subjects, materials, and variations can be contained within this simple, sturdy book.
We’ll teach you two ways to make board books: one uses hinges and a wrap-around cover, the other covers two whole pages at once and has a wrap around cover.

Lee Steiner, Dustin Schlain and Anna Bolster lead class
All book materials will be provided, including a selection of decorative papers, but you may also bring pre-printed pages for your book. Both books are small and vertical, one has boards 3 ¾” x 4 ½” and the other is 3” x 4” so you would plan two consecutive pages (opened flat) to be twice the width of the book (either 3 ¾” or 3”) and you could print two sets on one 8 ½ x 11” sheet. What?! If this sounds confusing, just come and make a fun model from the papers we supply! Then you’ll have the hang of it!
Kit cost: $5 (includes boards for two books, cover and inside papers, hand-outs, and ?)
Please Bring: bone folder, scissors and/or mat knife and mat, glue stick or light-weight glue or pva glue, pencil, ruler, thinking cap.
